NASHUA, N.H. – On November 18, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua (BGCN) celebrated the unveiling of its newly renovated kitchen, named The Gupta Family Cafe, marking a key milestone in the organization’s ongoing efforts to combat food insecurity in Nashua. The new kitchen, part of BGCN’s Power of YOUth capital campaign, will allow the Club to significantly increase its meal and snack services from 45,000 to more than 75,000 meals served annually at no additional cost to families.
The unveiling ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting, special recognition for lead kitchen donors Kedar and Renu Gupta of The Gupta Family Foundation, and a reception to celebrate the occasion. Following the ceremony, guided tours of the newly renovated kitchen were offered, giving guests an inside look at the expanded prep areas, walk-in fridge and freezer, cooking equipment, and serving stations.
“We are so excited to open The Gupta Family Cafe and expand our capacity to feed more youth in Nashua,” said Craig Fitzgerald, Executive Director of BGCN. “This new kitchen will not only allow us to increase the number of meals we serve, but it will also enable us to offer healthier, more nutritious food to our members, empowering them to make better lifestyle choices.”
Renovations to the kitchen tripled both the prep and storage spaces in the Club’s kitchen, improving overall efficiency and ensuring that more children and families benefit from nutritious meals. As part of the Club’s broader commitment to youth development, the new kitchen will also support nutrition education, helping young people make informed choices about their health.
The Gupta Family Cafe is named in honor of Renu and Kedar Gupta, whose generous contribution to the kitchen renovation project made the expansion possible. “When you mix food and education, it does wonders,” said Renu and Kedar Gupta.
The opening marks the first major milestone of BGCN’s Power of YOUth campaign, which aims to enhance the nonprofit’s overall capacity to provide safe, affordable child care, youth mental health support, and expand its impact on local communities.
“We are thrilled to unveil the fully renovated kitchen, a shining testament to the dedication and generosity of our supporters,” said Mary Jane King, Capital Campaign Chairperson. “We couldn’t do this without the unwavering support of our community, and look forward to the projects to come.”
