Great Futures Dinner

Great Futures

Chief Operating Officer Kurt Norris with Club member Tori and her Outstanding Teacher Award winner Cassandra Desfosses

A highlight of National Boys & Girls Club week, the Great Futures Dinner is an opportunity to celebrate the Academic Success accomplishments of our Club members and the teachers who have made a significant impact in the lives of the members who nominated them.

All Club members are encouraged to complete a teacher nomination form and write about the life lessons that they have learned from their teachers, what is unique about their favorite teacher as well as the awesome activities and qualities that make this teacher special. A small committee evaluates the forms and selects one teacher from each grade to receive Teacher Excellence Awards.

The Great Futures Dinner also recognizes those members who have been outstanding leaders for the Club and the community, helping others and acting as positive role models, and those who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to academic success by becoming high achievers in our education and technology programs.

“The Club does a lot in terms of academic success,” said Chief Operating Officer Kurt Norris. “Last year we had over 250 kids participate in computer programs,150 kids participate in STEM mentoring and robotics programs and 1,000 kids participate in homework help programs that really make a difference in allowing them to reach their educational goals.”

We take the time at this event to celebrate those community partners who ensure that our members achieve their academic success goals, guaranteeing that GREAT FUTURES START HERE for our kids.
