Services and Outreach

Services and Outreach
The Boys & Girls Club welcomes youth of
all ages to get involved and have fun ensuring that
GREAT FUTURES START HERE every day.

Race, cultural and socio-economic status have an undeniable and profound impact on young people. If care is not taken to help young people take pride in their own heritage and find the strengths and positive aspects of the environment in which they live, their perceptions of life, other people, and themselves may be permanently tinged with negativity and intolerance. One of our goals is to recognize the potential in each child and others and value the diversity of our nation's people. Our services to our Club members and their families focus on individualize services for each child.

Individual Services and Hispanic Outreach Directors
Perhaps one of the Club's most important areas is the Individual Services and Outreach Programs. As we know, each child is a unique individual who comes with a unique and individual situation. The Club provides custom-tailored services through its Individual Services and Outreach Directors. Such services include guidance and counseling, welfare and social services, outreach programs (with special emphasis on Hispanic youth/families) support programs, referrals, home, school and church visits, court, probation, and police contacts.

Youth for Unity
To help educate young people across the country about the importance of tolerance and diversity, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has joined forces with The Allstate Foundation to develop
Youth for Unity, a diversity education program designed to combat prejudice, bigotry and discrimination. Youth for Unity is the umbrella title for a comprehensive set of programmatic interventions that will allow Clubs to help members appreciate and understand our society's diversity, recognize unfairness and take personal leadership in confronting bias.

Additional Services
In addition to the daily program services, there are other areas where the Club provides assistance: transportation, food and nutrition, and before- and after-hour services.

Transportation
No-cost transportation to Grand Avenue and Kids Club is available from every public school in Nashua during the academic school year. All members will be picked up by a trusted adult. Additional no-cost transportation from Grand Avenue to members' homes is available on a limited basis during the school year only. Please talk to the membership secretary about bus routes and completing bus pass registration. Registration forms must be submitted in September and December for each transportation cycle. If a Club member has a bus pass revoked for behavioral reasons, it will not be reinstated until the next transportation program cycle.

Failure to ride the assigned bus or missing the bus is not the responsibility of the Club. Parents are responsible for getting their children transportation home. The Club does not offer transportation during holidays, vacations, or summer vacation. Please be advised that the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua reserves the right to cancel nightly bus transportation because of inclement weather or Club events. We will make every attempt to give advance notice when we are able.

Food and Nutrition Programs

At our Grand Avenue facility, we offer meals for all children through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Members participating in this program may be required to pay up to $1. For all children, ages 5 to 12 who attend either Grand Avenue or the Kids Club program, this application must be completed. For those children receiving free or reduced meal costs at school, you are eligible to receive them at the Club as well once the completed paperwork is returned.

For those members of our Teen Center, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua offers an after school snack program. We ask that all families complete this to help in the maintenance of records for our snack program.
