National Night Out
Lights flashing. Sirens blaring. Police and fire personnel on the street. The laughter of parents and children playing together.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, more than 300 youth, parents, and community representatives are expected to be on hand to celebrate National Night Out, which is co-sponsored by the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua, Nashua Police Department, Nashua Police Athletic League and Target Stores.
Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Norm Bouthilette said; “This is a night for Nashua to stand together to promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement to make Nashua a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
The event is planned with the assistance of Ed Lecius, Community Policing Coordinator, and the Nashua Police and Fire Departments.
The free event will offer a number of activities for the families, including games, safety demonstrations, dance presentations, a chalk art contest, give-a-ways, free snacks and more! Those attending will also be able to visit with police and fire personnel and be able to interact with some of the tools that they use to keep our city safe.
Sponsored nationally by the National Association of Town Watch and Target Stores, National Night Out is a unique crime and drug prevention event designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. In addition to the Boys & Girls Club members, staff and their families, residents are invited to participate in family-friendly activities along with members of the Police Athletic League and the Nashua Police and Fire-Rescue departments.
