Club teens see art education by doing

College Preparation Program shows teens the possibility of art after high school

In The Spotlight

Most teens don't set an alarm clock on a Saturday to go to school. On January 26, 2008, 9 teens from the Boys & Girls Club were up early to visit New Hampshire Institure of Art with Cultural Arts Director and NHIA alumna, Laura Zube.

The teens, who all have some experience with art and most were recently recognized for their talents at the Club's Annual Fine Arts Show, were excited about the possibility of continuing their artistic talents after high school. Members were invited to tour the campus, as well as participate in a workshop with a current instructor.

This trip was offered as part of the Boys & Girls Club College Mentoring program, which offers members a chance to visit colleges and learn about the process of applying to post-secondary programs.
