Club Teen Gets to Experience Unique Night with Red Sox Players and World Series Trophy

Thanks to generosity of BAE Systems, Club teen gets a once in a lifetime night!

In The Spotlight

Paul MacDonald, age 17, experienced an amazing night with World Series champions, the 2007 World Series Trophy, and a soldier back from Iraq. The Boys & Girls Club received 2 tickets, courtesy of BAE Systems, to attend the Boston Chapter of the Annual Baseball Writers Association of America on January 17, 2008.

This unique night allowed Paul to interact with Major League Baseball's Dustin Pedroia, Clay Buchholz, Mike Lowell, Terry Francona, Joe Morgan, Don Orsillo, Theo Epstein, and Mark Shapiro.

Sharing dinner with BAE employees, Paul was able to enjoy the awards ceremony and remembrance ceremony for all players who have passed away. Paul really enjoyed the speeches by Mike Lowell and Don Orsillo. After the ceremony, Paul had a chance to get autographs from Mike Lowell, World Series MVP, and Clay Buchholz. Paul was able to shake hands with John Henry, owner of the Boston Red Sox.

"It was a great time. Getting the chance to meet this people was an awesome experience," saying Paul. "I'd like to thank Kurt Norris (Club Director of Operations), the Boys & Girls Club and BAE Systems for giving me this opportunity."

Accompanying Paul was Education Director, Justin Newton, who is also an avid Red Sox fan. This event is one of the few events remaining in the Major League Baseball community. This year marked the 69th year of the event and was held at the Boston Westin Waterfront Hotel. The night was marked by the second time in four years that the Red Sox and their fans were celebrating with the World Series trophy.
