History


1966 First Advisory Board incorporated for Boys Club of Nashua. Don Norris is President.
1969 Board begins summer camp program for boys.
1970 Dominick Giovinazzo from Omaha, NE is hired as first Executive Director.
1971 Boys Club opens at 315 Main Street in April.
1973 Club moves to old Palm Street School. $650,000 Capital Campaign started to build Clubhouse.
1974 Clubhouse at 47 Grand Avenue built for $678,000.
1975 Barker Foundation grants funds to build indoor pool at the Clubhouse.
1985 Club builds $1.15 million addition, doubling space. New program begins for teen girls.
1990 Boys Clubs of America becomes Boys & Girls Club of America.
1992 Club's endowment fund officially becomes Boys Club of Nashua Charitable Foundation.
1995 Board votes for name change to Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua. All programs now serve girls and boys.
1996 Club undertakes $1.6 million Capital Campaign for Clubhouse renovation.
1997 Clubhouse undergoes extensive renovation. Milford, N.H. Club becomes a chartered unit.
1999 Dominick Giovinazzo retires. Norm Bouthilette promoted to Chief Executive Officer.
2000 Club voted Best Overall Club in Nation by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Readers Digest; Dave Brassard is President. Annual Banquet of Champions is changed to Dominick Giovinazzo Banquet of Champions. After 20 years of providing child care business, Boys & Girls Club stops serving infants to 5 years old to focus on youth development programs for children 8 - 18.
2002 Club signs a new lease agreement with Nashua Public School system to rent space to a pilot program for at risk middle school students at the Academy of Learning + Technology.
2003 Club opens two new extensions in collaboration with the Police Athletic League and Nashua Housing Authority.
2004 Club opens new extension at Elm Street Middle School in collaboration with 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Nashua School District. Club meets a challenge to raise $600,000 in endowment funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua Charitable Foundation.
2005 Club opens new extension at Fairgrounds Middle School in collaboration with 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Nashua School District.
2005 Club develops after school program in Merrimack, NH, located at James Mastricola Upper Elementary School.
2006 Club opens new extension at Pennichuck Middle School in collaboration with 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Nashua School District.
2006 In collaboration with the Litchfield School District and PlusTime NH, Club develops an after school program at Litchfield Middle School.
